The natural setting of Salobrena
Salobrena’s climate, with mild temperatures all year round and more than 320 days of sunshine, encourages extraordinary biodiversity. Native and tropical species grow all around Salobrena: sugar cane, cherimoyas, avocado trees, mangoes, bougainvillea, almond trees and jasmine. Poinsettias bloom in winter and in spring the almond trees cover the valley in white.
The agricultural landscape is also a living testimony to the villa’s history: sugar cane crops, which shaped the local economy for centuries, gave way to the tropical fruits that are now a symbol of the Costa Tropical.
From the urban centre, rural tracks such as the Canal path, the Lobres path and the Gambullon path lead through orchards and farm terraces. These are perfect routes to get close to rural life, observe birds, enjoy the landscape and connect with the unhurried rhythm of the fertile plain.
Beaches and coves
Salobrena’s coastline offers a wide variety of beaches, each with its own character and charm. All of them have clean waters, easy access and a coastal landscape of great beauty.
El Caleton and El Cambron
Pequeñas calas de gran belleza, con aguas tranquilas y fondos marinos perfectos para el buceo o el snorkel. Se accede a pie, siguiendo senderos costeros.
Salobrena’s coastline is undergoing an ecological recovery process. Off the beaches of La Guardia and the seafront promenade, artificial reefs have been installed to encourage the development of marine life – fish, cephalopods and crustaceans – and the regeneration of sandy seabeds.
The Town Council also maintains sustainable beach management, with cleaning services, environmental signage and bathing-water quality control.
Natural areas and active tourism
The municipality of Salobrena and its immediate surroundings offer opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities all year round:
- Horse riding along rural tracks and natural viewpoints.
- Kayak and paddle-surf routes along the coast, exploring cliffs and coves from the sea.
- Interpretive hiking and nature photography in the protected areas of the Costa Tropical.
Those who enjoy peace and quiet can explore nearby villages such as La Caleta and La Guardia, which still retain their seafaring essence and unhurried pace of life. In short, nature in Salobrena is a constant invitation to enjoy: sea, land and air come together to offer a full Mediterranean experience.
